Actually, just like Bruce Lee, her
aim is to conquer occident with her music, mixing some traditional melodies of her country
with the modern inventions of capitalistic technology. First among them computers,
sequencers, and samplers which she need as a rhythmic fragment.
Just because of this mixture of sources, "Voices from the sky" is a fascinating
hybrid of different cultures, and sometimes even contrasting one with
another.
Recorded in Hong Kong but inspired by the highest city of the world Lhasa, Tibet, it gets
nourishment by the dualism between earthly materiality and divine ineffability, leaving in
the ears of the listener a sense of suspension.
Her voice is amazingly brilliant, forged by her sense of tradition and her love for jazz,
R&B and soul.
And she makes clear that these kinds of music will definitely enter very soon her own way
to feel and write music.
